Help your child develop their sequencing skills with these Halloween complete the sequence printables.
Being able to recognize and finish patterns (called "extending" the pattern in educator lingo) is an important skill preschoolers and pre-k students need to learn.
Children with developed patterning skills are able to predict what comes next. Patterns are visible in their daily routines like getting dressed, brushing their teeth, and putting on socks and shoes. It can take 3 and 4 year olds lots of practice to develop their pattern extension skills, so it's important to provide them with many opportunities to practice.
This set includes 3 pages of patterns to finish with a total of 15 sequences.
These patterns are a mix of AB and ABC patterns, which are perfect for preschoolers. They seem so simple to adults, but they are a challenge for young children.
For best results, I recommend laminating the pattern sheets and the image tiles.
You can also place the sheets in page protectors to create a busy binder. Use stick-on velcro dots on the back of each image tile and the empty pattern squares. I recently started using "secure" page protectors with a little flap to keep the page inside. They're great!
I always print colorful printables on presentation paper, a heavyweight paper with a special coating for crisp, vibrant images so my printables look their best. 32lb paper is my second choice. You can see a comparison of 5 different types of paper, including regular printer paper and cardstock, in this post on the best paper for printables.
