Fall Complete the Sequence/Extend the Pattern Printables for Preschool
Being able to recognize and finish patterns (called "extending" the pattern in educator lingo) is an important skill preschoolers and pre-k students need to learn.
Help your child develop their pattern skills with these fall complete the sequence printables!
Children with developed patterning skills are able to predict what comes next. Patterns are visible in their daily routines like getting dressed, brushing their teeth, and putting on socks and shoes. It can take 3 and 4 year olds lots of practice to develop their pattern extension skills, so it's important to provide them with many opportunities to practice.
This set includes 4 pages of patterns to finish with a total of 16 sequences. The final page has the tiles needed for pattern completion.
There are a variety of patterns, including ABABAB patterns, AABAAB, ABBABB, and ABCABC.
For best results, I recommend laminating the pattern sheets and the image tiles. I always print my colorful printables on presentation paper, a heavyweight paper with a special coating for crisp, vibrant images so my printables look their best.
You can also place the sheets in page protectors to create a busy binder. Use stick-on velcro dots on the back of each image tile and the empty pattern squares.
